A crisis of decorum or a crisis of faith
The piece examines the recent incident of misconduct by a litigant before the Supreme Court and asks whether it reflects a deeper crisis of faith in the judiciary. Drawing on her own experience as an advocate, the author highlights the various systemic issues that can erode a litigant’s confidence in the courts, and argues that strengthening the judiciary requires addressing not only such conduct but also the conditions that may give rise to it.
